CHANNEL YOUR INNER RUBBER DUCKY

A rubber duck is a Zen master in disguise. No matter what happens in its world, it will continue to bob about on the surface. The water may become treacherous and unpredictable; our duck may encounter waves and whirlpools that pull it off course, rock its balance or even drag it under. But eventually, our heroic little duck will pop back up and continue on its way. The rubber duck shows us that although we may encounter fearful and unpleasant situations, the best way through is not by resistance, but simply by accepting and floating.

Here’s how to channel your

inner rubber duck

STEP 1: Stop.

STEP 2: Take a deep breath in and out, letting your

shoulders fall away from your ears with the exhale.

STEP 3: Say (either to yourself or out loud): ‘I accept

that I am feeling (insert word here), but instead of

fighting it I’m going to accept and float through it.’

STEP 4: Visualise our rubber ducky friend or,

if this doesn’t work, picture yourself gently floating

on smooth water.

STEP 5: Be confident in the knowledge

that this uncomfortable feeling/thought is

temporary and WILL pass.
